DEEPLIFE

DEEPLIFE

DEEPLIFE is a collaborative project between Under the Pole and an international consortium of scientists lead by L. Bramanti (LECOB) and L. Hedouin (CRIOBE). The aim is to explore mesophotic animal forests and their functional role in sustaining marine ecosystems. Animal forests are composed of long-lived engineering species, which provide habitat and shelter to myriads of organisms as well as numerous ecosystem services. Nevertheless, they remain largely unexplored.

In the ecoacoustic tasks we use the acoustic footprints of animal forests to explore their functional role and relationships to biological and environmental variables collected by other partners.
